The Arbequina variety is among the best known Spanish varieties. It is originally from the town of Arbeca, in the Lleida region of Les Garrigues, from which the name comes. The arbequines are small olives, but very appreciated for the high productivity and good fat yield, over 20.5% of oil, which places it among the varieties with the highest percentage of extraction of extra virgin olive oil.
